During the pandemic in 2020, as I was recovering from depression, my mind often searched for a safe space — a place to rest, breathe, and feel secure. That refuge became the memory of my mother’s garden. I could still picture every flower, every plant, every corner of that serene space. Its beauty and calm gave me solace during the darkest moments, and from that sanctuary, the songs of In The Garden began to bloom. Music became my bridge from struggle to healing, and through it, God restored pieces of my soul.
In early 2022, I began collaborating with Eric Fussiler at Sheep Dog Studios in Hamilton, Ontario. We spent months workshopping every track, layering instrumentals, percussion, choir, strings, and vocals to ensure each song reached its fullest potential. Over a year later, the album is in its final stages of mixing and mastering, each note carefully crafted to tell this journey.
In The Garden is not a worship album, but it is steeped in themes of biblical creation. It reflects my personal journey — my struggles, my inner thoughts, and the lessons I’ve learned. The album is meant to be experienced in sequence: from the opening track Eden, leading to the title track In The Garden, which explores the feeling of being lost and disconnected from home, to the closing song Bloom and Grow, a celebration of taking time, space, and grace to blossom as God intended.
My hope is that listeners find meaning in this work. Not every song offers resolution, just as life doesn’t always provide answers — but there is always room to grow, and beauty can emerge through the journey.
